I thought I would just post a few words on Michael Jackson. Not only is he a huge inspiration to me and many other musicians in the world, but he is also an important figure in our lives.
His music has helped me through some difficult times earlier in my life and I am still amazed how his albums like Off the Wall and Thriller still sound current – as if they were created just yesterday. This is a testament to the talent of him and of course Quincy Jones, Bruce Swedien and the top session musicians he had playing on the albums.
I sincerely hope that Michael is remembered for the wonderful music that he gave us and not the ‘darker’ parts of his personal life (whether true or not). Just like the Beatles, I’m sure we will be listening to his music 40 years from now…
Heres a little tune I wrote on my bass guitar which I have dedicated to him:

'Distant Shores' - New album released
‘Distant Shores’ is the fantastic debut album from Ox (released 28 October 2008), a UK based songwriter/producer with an extremely promising future. This electronic, down-tempo album is definitely one for chilling out to. The beautiful guitar melodies alongside the timeless strings and electronic layers, instil peace and a sense of nonchalance that ease your worries and calm even the busiest of the minds.
A newcomer to the down-tempo scene, Ox seems to be going from strength to strength. After having tracks included on a few compilations, he then had success with downloads in Japan via Toryumon.
The man behind it all is Paul Hogg, a musician with many talents. He was given the nickname Ox at college because of his large frame and stature and it has stuck ever since. His versatility as a musician is clearly demonstrated in ‘Distant Shores’ as he played all instruments on the album himself, as well as executing the recording, production and mastering. Heavily influenced by the likes of Moby, Craig Armstrong, Groove Armada and Chic, he always aims to evoke passion and emotion in the listener.
As a producer, remixer and musician, Paul is also working on several other projects as well as The Ox, and spanning many different music genres.
